The Nursing Skills Laboratory is one of the important scientific laboratories at the College of Nursing / University of Al-Muthanna, where students are trained during the first and second academic stages on all basic nursing procedures that benefit the student in acquiring the nursing skills necessary to care for patients. The nursing skills laboratory is supervised by a specialized teaching and technical staff with high experience in the clinical practical field.                Students are trained in this laboratory on various nursing procedures, such as how to take care of the patient’s unit; Modern methods of communication between the nurse and the patient as well as between the nurse and members of the health team; Students are also trained on basic procedures to prevent transmission of infection in health institutions, such as using the correct method    for washing    hands, whether     routine or surgical, and ways to prevent transmission of infection by using appropriate personal protective equipment such as wearing gloves, professional gown, mask, face mask and protective glasses, in addition to    head covering and shoe cover. ; Students are also trained on how to measure the patient's vital signs (body temperature, blood pressure, respiratory rate and heartbeat); Training students on how to document nursing procedures and notes in the patient's record. Students are also    trained in the nursing skills lab on how to care for wounds and the correct way to clean, sterilize, sew and bandage wounds according     to their types; Students are trained on the methods of giving medicines, including giving medicines through  intravenous infusion, blood giving, and intravenous cannulation, where all the dolls and the necessary teaching aids are available in the laboratory. The Nursing Skills Laboratory also provides an opportunity for college students for the purpose of training them on other nursing procedures such as placing urinary catheters and inserting the tube. Nasogastric, as well as methods of using hot and cold compresses, in addition to training students on using the correct method of posture during daily nursing work, as well as the necessary positions for the patient in bed and the correct method of moving and moving the patient. In addition to other essential nursing procedures necessary to provide comprehensive nursing care to the patient.
