The College of Nursing - University of Al-Muthanna was established according to the letter of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Department of Studies, Planning and Follow-up, TM 3 / 5244 on 3/9/2012, due to the country’s need for nursing staff and the advancement of health services in health institutions, in society and at all levels. The college enables students to obtain the information, skills and values necessary to qualify them scientifically and technically to provide nursing care with high efficiency for the individual, family and society in various health care settings. Through educational programs, it contributes to preparing practitioners, leaders, teachers and researchers willing to learn lifelong and supportive of health care recipients Research and provision of community services in cooperation with government institutions and bodies and civil society organizations at the local, regional and international levels. The college is also keen to achieve student welfare and develop the care of its employees.
The goal of the College of Nursing is to develop scientific progress and develop curricula to graduate nursing competencies that are characterized by the highest levels of knowledge and skill in performing the job description. It must be pointed out that the world has begun to move towards subspecialization, as this is the path to development, renaissance and progress. This trend was not limited to the productive sectors only, but extended to all service sectors. In fact, the subspecialty is growing in the nursing field with all its specializations, and the study of all specialties is encouraged. Nursing started from managing nursing bodies, education, summer training and primary health care, all the way to advanced nursing in hospitals.
The nursing profession is on the cusp of a new stage. The educational program of nursing colleges must keep pace with it and follow up on the rapid scientific developments to take advantage of everything new in consolidating the rules of specialized nursing on the widest scale through activities that combine theoretical aspects and practical training and the current and future needs of health facilities from specialized nursing cadres.
The college also works to provide a comfortable and discreet educational environment for students. What the recipient of the College of Nursing must realize is that the nursing skill, scientific competence, dealing with modern technology, and the ability to teach, learn and solve problems through the health team.
The College of Nursing looks forward to achieving the important goals that include the commitment of the College Dean to mobilize resources for continuity and promotion of development through continuous evaluation of administrative and academic performance, spreading a culture of quality and performance development, as well as working on developing the capabilities of the faculty in the educational, research and educational fields, raising the level of applied research, and enhancing the ambition to activate partnership. research at the local and international levels. As well as working to develop educational curricula to serve the health and nursing needs of the community, fill the great shortage in Iraqi health institutions with the required nursing competencies, and activate the culture of continuing education.
Finally, the college adopts a strategy to strengthen the relationship with the service sectors and community institutions related to health promotion by opening horizons of cooperation and partnership to link the educational process with the health needs of the community and the requirements of the labor market.
